Gundog Club Grade 2
The Junior Gundog

Develop a fun partnership with your dog using positive reinforcement and reward based methods.

This is a 6-week course working you towards Grade Two of the Gundog Club Graded Scheme and focuses on developing the skills learnt in the Grade One Course and continues working you and your dog even more as a team and building on the trusting relationship.

The course aims to to teach you and your dog the ability to walk a short distance at heel off lead, sit whilst you walk away, sit to a whistle at heel, come when he is called, carry out some simple retrieves and show an aptitude for hunting (spaniels & HPRs).

Topics it includes:

Heelwork - on & off lead for a longer duration building on connection
Whistle cues - building on distance control
Introduction to shot (starting pistol)
Hunting patterns (Spaniels /HPRs)
Steadiness
Seen & Memory Retrieves - perfecting the retrieve pattern
Directions
plus much more

Please note, dogs must be able to cope and stay in the car during the breaks.

The Assessment for either Grade is Optional and will be taken after the 6-week course.

For those wishing to take the Gundog Club Assessments, there is a one-off registration fee of £14, then individual assessment costs;

Please note that refunds will not be given if you are no longer able to attend your booking, your female dogs come into season or they are ill during the course and you're no longer able to continue.
Places are not confirmed until payment has been received. If you reserve a place via choosing to book via BACs but someone pays before you - unfortunately they'll get the place.

A session may be covered over a live Zoom session if the weather is too cold/severe or even too hot in the Summer months, for the welfare of your dogs. You will get more from your dog in your front room than them shutting down if they are too cold and wet.
