RECALL & HEELWORK

Recall & Heelwork

This course is for dogs that have no self control when it comes to walking in Heel position

or their recall isn't reliable

Build a good baseline of heelwork and a reliable recall through fun games and structure

Our 7-week course focuses on three of the most difficult training tasks: Recall, Heelwork and Loose Lead Walking.  These courses are for owners with any breed or cross breed of Gundog from 6 months of age.

Firstly, It will give you a better understanding of the difference between Loose Lead walking and Heelwork.

It will also strengthen your recall so that you end up with a super reliable recall cue.

For dogs, just walking alongside demands self control. They have to resist the strong desire to scent mark (males mainly), pulling to see the other dog that might be passing you, sniffing at the amazing scents along the way, and the urge to naturally go at their fast pace to get to the park.

Dogs that are more impulsive, less controlled or more easily stimulated by the context of the environment will always find it more difficult.

Teaching your dog to enjoy walking alongside you is all about focus and engagement and also about teaching them self control.

As all dogs are individuals, there is no one fix for all, so this course will provide you with some specific skills, exercises, and games that you can do to help with self control around distractions, managing their threshold (arousal) level in a fun way.

Our approach is building a strong connection through reward based games and training exercises so that your dog thinks that you are the most important thing when out walking and not the environment around them. It teaches you to ensure your dog focuses on you, checks in regularly and doesn't just charge off!

This course is a series of lessons that incorporates many fun activities taking you from the start of your training and builds on the foundations of your Heel work and Recall skills and works through the stages one step at a time.
