We aim to help you understand your dog & their motivations, their innate instincts and how best to train them so that you can harness their drive, energy & natural instincts to stimulate their brain. Gundogs have been bred to be extremely interested in the environment.



Gundog training with Paws & Play Gundogs is perfect for owners of both pet and working gundog breeds and cross breeds as we teach you all the practical skills you need to teach and train your dog so that they become an enjoyable part of your family.

We use a fun, choice-based approach using positive reinforcement, clicker training techniques and games to help teach them that we are a valuable source of reinforcers and to help them to choose us over the environmental reinforcers such as game birds, movement, scent etc.

Gundog Puppy

This is a great entry level course for those who'd like to kick start their gundog training.

It's ideal for owners with any breed or cross breed of Gundog to channel the natural instincts of hunting and retrieving whether it's for fun, to improve their relationship or for working on the field.

Our Online Courses cover the same syllabus as the in person ones, but are done via pre recorded videos.

At the moment, there is Gundog Puppy, Pet Gundog, & Loose Lead, Heelwork & Recall available.

I've been using these methods since 2009 with my first reactive dog, and continued to do so with the rest of my dogs; Scarlett a Springer cross Labrador, Hobbs a Labrador, Ellie a Cocker Spaniel, & Tully a Labrador.

They've all enjoyed the training and had success as a result of the positive engagement in Scurry competitions, Working Tests, and even working on local shoots; both picking up and beating.

As an accredited & qualified Gundog Club instructor and assessor, I'm committed to providing the most effective and convenient results to my client’s dogs training needs through the use of fun and choice based training using positive reinforcement and reward based training methods.
