Gundog Puppy Training

Our 8-week Gundog Puppy course is ideal for any family working bred gundog or gundog cross breed. They put an emphasis on preventing problem behaviours before they happen and help your puppy develop into a well-trained and behaved dog. 

Owners of gundog breeds such as retrievers, spaniels & HPR breeds will soon notice that they need a little more stimulation and engagement that most other breeds, especially when they're out in the countryside which is why I provide training specifically tailored for pet gundog breeds.

Our Gundog Puppy courses will help you to understand your pet Gundog and what their breed was bred to do. They aim to teach you some fun skills of gundog training that harness their natural instincts such as retrieving, chasing, sniffing/hunting, that are appropriate for their age. Games that help to provide an outlet for these instincts that can become part of your daily walk and routine.

Without focussed training, these innate instincts can become unwanted behaviours and problems during the adolescent phase. These instincts won't go away, they'll only get stronger, so the best thing to do is to harness them rather than trying to suppress them.

Success for you and your puppy on this course does rely on you being committed to the training and putting the time and effort into training outside of class.

Week 1 of your course is at Home Pre-course Material; Theory Information Guides, together with over 10 practicals for you to complete at home prior to starting the in person sessions via pre-recorded videos. 

You'll receive a welcome email with the access link to Week 1 content - 1 week prior to your in-person start date for you to work on before your first practical session. This will be via the Paws & Play Gundogs App.

Please Note:

• Please note that refunds will not be given if you are no longer able to attend your booking, your female dogs come into season or they are ill during the course and you're no longer able to continue.
• Places are not confirmed until payment has been received. If you reserve a place choosing to book via BACs but someone pays before you - unfortunately they'll get the place.

• A session may be covered over a live Zoom session if the weather is too cold/severe in the Winter months, or too hot in the Summer months, this is for the welfare of your dogs. You will get more from your dog inside your home than outside where they may shut down if they are too cold and wet.
