Our First-Ever Gundog Training Holiday – Will You Join Us?

Join us for our very first Gundog Training Holiday – a unique opportunity to enjoy quality training time with your dog, surrounded by like-minded people, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Over the course of the holiday, you’ll:

  • Build new skills with your dog through practical, enjoyable training sessions
  • Share experiences and tips with fellow gundog owners
  • Make the most of time away in a supportive, fun environment

It’s the perfect mix of progress, connection, and downtime – for both you and your dog.

Whats included:

Over 2.5 days of training, your dog will develop and refine key gundog skills, including:

  • Expanding their knowledge of marking, taking memories, and blinds across varied and challenging terrain
  • Potential water training session (weather permitting)
  • A walked-up scenario in cover
  • Use of remote dummy launchers for advanced retrieves
  • An unforgettable mountain training day

Here’s how the training will be structured:

  • Monday – Training with Lindsay
  • Tuesday – Training with Collette, including some time on the mountain
  • Wednesday – Back with Lindsay for your final round of training

This holiday is designed for gundogs working at the Grade 3+ level, with:

  • Good recall
  • Keen retrieving drive
  • Confidence with shot
  • Steadiness around other dogs

We keep the atmosphere relaxed but purposeful – it’s about making progress while enjoying the experience.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the price of the Gundog Training Holiday, so attendees will need to arrange their own stay.

On-site options is available with prices from £50 to £127 per night, and include:

  • Y Beudy – a cosy 2-bedroom cottage
  • Caravan – available for gundog handlers to book
  • Camping or own campervan – with electric hook-up available

If you prefer to stay off-site, our host, Collette, has a list of recommended local B&Bs, which we can share with you on request.

The Social Side

Along with the training, we will provide you with a light lunch on each of the 3 days.

For many handlers, the downtime is just as valuable as the training. One evening, we’ll head to a
local pub or restaurant for dinner, and if the weather plays nicely, stay on-site for a BBQ on one night.

It’s the perfect way to unwind, share stories, and enjoy good company.

About Collette:

As well as running Mid Wales Holidays, and sharing her home with Labrador Retrievers, Angus, Grace, Harry and Fern, plus cheeky Chihuahua-cross Rosie, Collette is also the proud owner-founder of Completely Gundogs.

Over the last decade, Collette has dedicated her life to learning about science-based, reward-based gundog training in order to teach her students to train their dogs in a fun, force free and effective way.

Before starting her first dog training, walking and sitting business, Lead & Listen in Surrey, she completed extensive theoretical and practical training with world-class trainers, including Chirag Patel.

Collette has a particular interest in how we can communicate more effectively with our dogs by reading their body language and also by being more aware of our own. Understanding our canine friends is the secret to increased cooperation and general obedience.

Passionate about gundog breeds, Collette regularly takes her own dogs picking up throughout the season and is an accredited Gundog Club instructor and assessor.

An avid competitor too, taking part in gundog working tests and field trials, Collette has achieved numerous awards in working tests and is proud to have reached these high standards using positive reinforcement methods of training.

She believes that training should always be fun and enjoyable for both the dog and handler, regardless of the end goal. Collette finds it rewarding to help owners train their dogs, to improve their relationship and reduce problems both at home and out in the field, whether working or competing.
